The Hub explains the method. 10x-cli installs it. 10xBench helps select a model.
Lesson m1l1 · 10xDevs 4.0 requires 10x-cli 1.22.2 or newer
Set up a helper, download the skills and work through your idea with an agent. Follow the lesson’s path from discussing 10xCards to writing notes and a PRD — in your own project.
Prepare your projectOpen the project directory in Claude Code. Use a separate project for edition 4.0 and keep your work from 3.0.
You need Node.js 20+; 10xDevs 4.0 requires 10x-cli 1.22.2 or newer. Run commands through npx @latest — an old global 10x will skip 10x-idea-check. Check the version:
npx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest --versionIn the project directory, add both complete helpers — setup and guide, including their references. No login is needed. --tool is required:
npx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest helpers install --tool claude-codeAsk the agent to read .claude/skills/10x-cli-setup/SKILL.md and help prepare the environment. Helpers from 1.22.1+ take lesson setup through all four skills, including 10x-idea-check. Keep an already working installation. If the CLI reports a conflict, preserve your files and inspect it with the helper.
Use this command instead of the Claude Code variant. Both helpers go to .github/skills. In the same project, ask Copilot to read 10x-cli-setup/SKILL.md from that directory. Pass --tool copilot on get. 10x-idea-check must land at .github/skills/10x-idea-check/SKILL.md. Keep the two tools’ directories separate.
npx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest helpers install --tool copilottest -s .github/skills/10x-idea-check/SKILL.mdReady when: The helpers are in your project and the agent can read them.
Get the lesson’s skillsIf your CLI session is valid and you have course access, skip login. Otherwise, sign in with a magic link to your course account email:
npx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest auth --method emailEnter your course account email. Open the magic link in your inbox; the terminal waits for confirmation.
This is a separate method: the CLI sends the approval link as a private Circle message. Enter the same course account email and follow the link. Choose one login method.
npx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest auth --method circleFetch the whole m1l1 lesson from 10xDevs 4.0 — not just init/shape/prd. A full get also writes 10x-idea-check. Dry-run first (it writes nothing), then get without that flag:
npx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest get m1l1 --course 10xdevs4 --tool claude-code --lang en --dry-runnpx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest get m1l1 --course 10xdevs4 --tool claude-code --lang enConfirm the skill is in the project directory. A missing file means an old helper, a three-skill get, or a CLI below 1.22.1 on a filtered setup:
test -s .claude/skills/10x-idea-check/SKILL.mdIf the test fails, add 10x-idea-check on its own via npx @latest (1.22.2 or newer for 10xdevs-4). --dry-run still writes nothing — after the preview, run it without that flag:
npx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest get m1l1 --type skills --name 10x-idea-check --course 10xdevs4 --tool claude-code --lang en --dry-runnpx @przeprogramowani/10x-cli@latest get m1l1 --type skills --name 10x-idea-check --course 10xdevs4 --tool claude-code --lang enOr ask the agent to read .claude/skills/10x-cli-guide/SKILL.md. Give it this goal — the list must include 10x-idea-check:
Help me download the complete 10x-idea-check, 10x-init, 10x-shape and 10x-prd skills for lesson m1l1 in 10xDevs 4.0, in English, for Claude Code. Show the proposed changes first. Do not skip 10x-idea-check.
Check the references with guide as well: 10x-idea-check (examples, assessment-guide, 4.0 dates) and the PRD schema in the 10x-shape directory, plus the separate lesson rules. One SKILL.md file is not the complete set.
Ready when: You have 10x-idea-check, init, shape and prd with their supporting files.
Work through your ideaIn the lesson, 10xCards addresses the time it takes to create flashcards. Use that example or an idea of your own. First ask the agent to use the downloaded 10x-init: it prepares context while preserving existing files.
Next, use 10x-shape with the agent. Answer its questions about the user, problem and scope, then read the recorded decisions before continuing.
context/foundation/shape-notes.mdReady when: Your notes describe the user, problem and agreed MVP scope.
Turn your notes into a PRDAsk the agent to use 10x-prd with your shape notes. Open both documents: do they describe the same user and problem? Does the PRD preserve the agreed scope and what you are leaving out for now?
context/foundation/prd.mdReady when: You have two consistent documents for the next part of the course.
